    Nodraw - A must know


    A very useful tool texture, YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS TEXTURE.

    Beginner-Intermediate Tutorial

    What is nodraw?
    Nodraw is a tool texture like areaportal, playerclip or hint. Its invisible and solid although it is not used for that type of purpose.

    What does it do?
    It helps cut down compiling time and gives your map a better fps if its currently slow. Reducing

    Where do you use it?
    You usally use it outside your maps and inside complex brushes or grouped.

    It`s generally best to create everything with the nodraw texture, then texture sides you can see, that way you don`t have to go through and find the sides you can`t see.

    P.S. Yes there is a difference between Invisible and NoDraw. Use nodraw, invisible is essentially a texture of nothing, nodraw is completely not rendered.

    i was led to belive that there was no need to texture nodraw on to brush sides that touch each other or outside of the map, as all of that is not rendered. anyone wanna set me straight on this?

    Its true to create everything starting with nodraw and then texture the outer layer.

    It does help alot, especially when you have complex brushes or just brush faces touching together that can't be seen.
