Good gaming comp?

Yes. You could do it with lesser power supply, but w/e. And better processor would be cool for some programs and games in the future.

looks ok without any of the manufactuers listed for the components. with one exception. DDR2 doesnt like to have mis-matched ram. if you want 3 gig of ram, get 2x1GB and 2x512MB ram. as the slots are paired up so to speak.
and dont pay any attention to Nasu. your processor is fine, ive got the Q6600 and my computer still runs like a beast

What's your motherboard? Make sure the socket matches the processor. Also, you might want to get DDR3 memory/ram, because usually that's good for high gaming memory or professional gaming. Uhh.... everything else looks pretty good to me; nice graphics card choice too.
Looks good.
obviously its gonna be the same socket, he aint that dumb. as for the ram, no point getting ddr3 with that cpu, he wont see any of the performance increase you think he might get+ the price difference for a compatible motherboard, cpu and ram. just isnt in his price range.

In my opinion that is one sexy gaming machine.I wish I had one but me being the cheapster I am.

Meh, Gigabyte, I've had some really bad experiences with them. Their motherboards aren't exactly what you would call "stable". Unlike ASUS, you can only use the RAM that is listed on their supported list. Otherwise, you'll end up in a shit storm like I did.
I thought x86 (32-bit) OS's could only go up to 3.5 GB? Maybe not?
In 2-4 years i7 will be in the bargain bin. We are already seeing 32nm chips hit the market. It won't be too long before we see a newer (and better) architecture running on 32nm or lower.
