    Arrow W-surfing

    Hey guys,
I have noticed a number of people recently who surf by walking into the ramp rather than strafing into it. For anyone that does this, how did you learn that way? I've tried it and it seems really hard, but then again I thought strafe surfing was hard at first too.
So for you W-surfers, how did you learn, and does it hold any benefits over traditional surfing?

What do you mean? Like, you jump, spin in a circle, and hit the ramp?

There's really no other style, as if you didn't strafe you'd lose a shitload of momentum.

he's talking about people that actively FACE the ramp, and use w instead of a/s. there's no benefit, and the way they learned is that they are retarded. and i mean literally dain bramaged. you don't gain speed, and pretty much cannot surf on non-combat maps.

haha, yeah. Some W-surfers I've seen can do some crazy stuff and actually build a lot of speed. It just looks weird to me. The way I learned how to surf is by getting on a server and continually dying until someone impatiently told me to strafe lol. I was just wondering if anyone who actually does it would explain why they do it.

The majority of them actually use W plus a strafe for some odd reason, not just W. It allows them to see slightly in front of them, but it is still a bad way to surf. Might as well surf backwards.

I've seen a couple people backward surf better than you can probably forward surf.
