Your first assumption and concern is that they're going to make a movie based on the game, so you really have no knowledge of the company. At worst we're going to end up paying more to play newer versions of Minecraft, but this might not be the case at all. Often times a company will buy another out just to take their profits in the long run, a good example being Activision buying Blizzard. It could be a good thing for Minecraft, with a bigger company the game might get updated faster and they could develop their own plugins for servers and games rather than having some random player do it for them.

Long story short, don't be so close minded to assume that this is the worst thing that could come of Minecraft, you do realize how successful Microsoft is right?

I know how successful Microsoft is, yes, but they operate very different from mojang, and I'm just scared theyre gonna ruin MC.
Pretty sure we have to login with Windows Live soon.

I only said that about the movie because I also read that they see great possibilities in merchandise and movie licenses.

Well Minecraft is already a huge merchandise game, So i see no problem with that. I doubt you'll see a movie any time in the near future, but even if there was one it would probably be pretty good if its anything like the ones people have made on Youtube.

Again, its only something mentioned right now, its not even happening yet....and you're assuming all this and that is happening when they'll probably take the whole team when they buy it, and just feed money into the developmental side of it.

    You gotta calm down.

I don't understand why the worst is always assumed in these situations. In cases of successful companies being bought by larger ones, almost nothing changes in the production process or management structure (besides the obvious) 90% of the time. With Minecraft doing as well as it has been without Microsoft's intervention, the deal had to have been mutually beneficial for it to even make sense. Why sell a franchise that posted record-breaking profits without a publisher?

    $2.5 Billion to be exact.

I'd be happy with 0.1% of that amount. Someone please?
