What are your thoughts on this new law? Though I am concerned about civil rights, I'm also concerned about the safety of American citizens (which include Whites, Blacks, Latinos, Asians, etc) in Arizona. How long does the violence have to persist before something is done? Drug smuggling is one of the big issue, it seems, on the border. Though some call for legalizing drugs, I don't think it's the solution that would have the most immediate affect on the situation there.

This article from February of last year spells out the kidnapping problem in Phoenix. This isn't an issue to be taken lightly.
I find it kind of ironic that illegal immigrants will be protesting immigration laws on May 1st. They don't even obey the laws we currently have on the books.
You may say that the United States needs to loosen its immigration rules, but the USA has some of the most lenient rules in the world. Try immigrating to a country in Europe. Getting a visa to work, from what I've heard, is incredibly difficult. For most European countries you also have to know the national language before you can become a permanent resident and/or citizen.
