New Headset help

Well I recently got a Razer Piranha headset and the sound is GREAT! Love it and all but unfortunately my mic does not work. It is not a USB headset. It has the 2 jacks; green and pink. I have tested to see if it even registers on my computer. It doesn't register on computers (multiple)...it only registers the sound board on the motherboard. So when I would normally talk with my USB Logitech headset steam registers the device and changes instantly, the Razer headset does not. SO! I am wondering if I should get a sound card and see if it will register the sound card not my motherboard. If you could give a answer that would be great.
