I have no idea why the Pope's going all hippie, to be honest. He has enough problems and disliking.

I'm pretty sure that the pope is not a law bearing prophet. Even if he was, then he would be preaching against his own religion. There is to be no more law bearing prophets in our age.
Although he might have attained prophet-hood and is merely clarifying specific old laws within the modern culture which could be the case, but I'm not sure if the Pope has obtained the status of prophet.

Found out more details today, the Vatican have not said there are new sins, they simply released a statement saying that if there were modern day ones, that's what they'd be.
