is it just me or is the new movies getting worse and worse for every year that passes by, i liked the old movies, the 2: 30 min long movie, with good story line and dialog. now they are shitty, or is it just me having high standards?. i mean, my friends says " OMG THAT WAS A GReAT MOVIE I LOVed IT!!" when im thinking, "what a waste of time. id rather be home and eat sum ice cream". wheres the 3 hour long movies..... where... WHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!! . i mean when i saw 10.000 yrs bc. i felt like go kill the actors, the producer and the guy who invested in that 2 hour piece of flying penguin shit.. oh and btw no jk comments, im surios. Movies are worse because of lower standards. Back in the day, better movies were made because the studios could not afford to screw up. Nowadays, there are millions of dollars being thrown around making many movies that do produce a profit, but are not very good in a film fanatic's point of view. Movies today are made to make money. They are for entertainment purposes whereas the good ones are more like art. The great ones are the ones that successfully blend art and entertainment, but the producers, writers, etc. capable of making those types of movies are rare these days.

After getting used to the good stuff, you find it hard to settle for anything else.

Take the gangster genre for example.

I saw the godfather series front to back last year for the first time (go ahead laugh), then i went to go to see American Gangster, but it wasn't the same. Not that it was a bad movie, which it defiantly wasn't but, The Godfather was better.

Now this is not to say that every old movie was excellent, and all multiplexes should only be playing 30 year old movies. They defiantly had their share, if not more of, shitty movies.

bah i dont think thats true, theres only 1 really GREAT movie coming out every 1 or 2 years.

When we think of old movies we like, theres usualy 10-15 that come to mind over like 20 years, which is not much.
Think about it, theres what, 200 movies that come out nationaly every year, they cant all be good... im sure you can think of 1 great movie that came out within a year.

I got my uncle and my aunt watching really old black and white movies and think they are a thousand times better than what comes out nowdays, and they probably are for them, but not so much for me
In 20 years our kids will probably make fun of us when we are watching the godfather.
