Being accused of hacking is fun up to a point, then it's just irritating. If you've played with me on backalley_run, I'm sure you know what this is all about. No I'm not here to show off. I guess I'm here to show you people how I do it. I don't think I'm the only one that knows how to do this fairly consistently as it's really common sense and easy to figure out after a few plays as a terrorist.
I've got a demo uploaded, it'll be up for 7 days and I guess on request if it needs to be re-uploaded. The people I want to reach out to the most are likely people that never go on the forums, so they'll never see this. I just hope I hear less accusations of hacking because believe it or not it gets old fairly quickly.
So, the hax technique. What it is and how to do it.
What it is: This is going to sound incredibly simple, and it doesn't really apply anywhere else other than maps like backalley where there's no real risk of ever getting shot at. All you do is that you point your scope at a point where the majority of the opposing team's heads pass through with enough room in your view so that you can see the other team reach that point and react accordingly. Backalley makes this easy because jumps are pretty static, there's only one way to jump and it looks the same for everyone. As you'll see in the demo, some heads pass the point I pick.
How to do it: Find the magic spot(you'll see it at the beginning of every round in the demo) and you do not move your mouse and try and catch the heads. You fire at whatever passes through, whether it's a head or a body. You're eliminating multitasking, the act of moving and clicking together, and instead you just have clicking. Even if there's smoke in the way, you can faintly see bodies entering and leaving the smoke cloud. It's much easier to time if you can see them entering the cloud because after you get good at doing this, you can estimate the time it takes between them jumping for the next room and when the head/body is going to reach your scope. If you can't see them entering the smoke it's much harder as it's purely reaction based. There are a few rounds in the demo where you can see that a proper smoke toss makes this impossible to do well.
If you completely remove the act of moving your mouse to shoot at someone, all you need is reaction time for a mouse click. Use this website and see how fast you can actually react to something with a mouse click, without even thinking about moving your mouse. I realize your entire screen changing color is nothing like someone moving in a game, but hopefully you get the idea.
As for ch_run, that's pure skill as there's no specific point to pre-aim at, and hopefully you'll notice that I don't do as well on ch_run as I do on mg_backalley_run.
The demo is quite large, there's 30 minutes worth of stuff in it I think.
I had a blonde moment yesterday. I downloaded your demo and planned to watch it when I got home later that day. I forgot and started to play minigames, and it was on back alley. It was fun until you owned me a couple times, then I sorta got pissed. Left the game and I then remembered the demo, so I watched it, and it turns out it was you. haha.
Good demo overall, and it helped me learn a few techniques.
