Halo ODST Preview

Its shaping up to be one hell of a game. Its going to come with 2 discs, the second with the multiplayer content. (Im sure the special edition will include more discs, for commentary and "the making of the game" and stuff). The multiplayer disc will come with ALL of the Halo 3 maps, including the newest one mythic, along with 3 new ones. There is also going to be a game type similar to Horde mode in Gears of War 2 called Firefight.

If you pre-order the game, you get a code that lets you play as Sgt Johnson in Firefight, along with a beta key to Halo 3: Reach (you get a beta key just for buying the game). Anyway, firefight is going to pit you and your comrades against waves of covenant, but theres a catch. Skulls will be turned on periodically to increase the challenge. For those of you that dont know, Skulls are pretty much like Death Cards in COD:WAW, where they modify the game for better or worse. In Halo 3, there were 2 types of skulls, silver and gold. Gold was a hinderance, but gave you more points in the campaign meta-game, and silver was just hilarity added to the gameplay (exploding grunt heads, bigger explosions, etc.)

Considering what this game comes packaged with, I'm definitely going to be picking this one up when it drops this fall.

It seems like it will be pretty decent. If you have an xbox 360 you can download a mini-video of gameplay of the new campaign. One of the xbox live people just walks you through a small preview. If you are a major Halo 3 player than ODST may not be for you.
