well... I've been holding this off for a long time nervous to show my work to people I don't know' but as sure as the slayer I'm listening to as I type is, I assure you that this will be good.
A while back during tech drafting class (in which I learned nothing of value or importance), I was taking the masking tape off the corners of my paper when I rolled one up into a tube... little did I know at the time that that single tape tube would dictate many hours of my life for the next 6 or 7 months.
I started small... little bridges and structures that resembled toothpick structures. I later moved on to curved structures and circles.
Basic Inctructions
take your tape (see below for obvious example)
then your take your finger and peel the corner up and roll it at an angle towards the other end all the while sort of pulling it towards the inside of the angle.
if done correctly, it should turn out like this.
Wow, your doing great... keep it up!
after nailing the basics of my, what I believe to be, self-taught and new form of art; I was able to make... things (which I think was just the natural evolution of the skill set).
I started simple and gradually moved up, getting larger and more complex with each creation.
I have some pictures of the things I've made in somewhat chronological order with commentary.
My older, not overly simplistic, models (with paperclips and pencil eraser for general scale)
The first of the tanks; with little skill involved, mainly accident really
The Super Sherman
A tank that I dubbed "Super Sherman" because of similarities in design
*gasp* the turret rotates
The inner workings
The new W.I.P. heavy tank
My latest works with heavy main gun and two side guns inspired by the tanks from WWI and warhammer 40k
smooth rotating turret
smooth rotating side gun which is sitting in two small holes on the top and bottom
incomplete right side gun
comparison shot
The main gun has a recoil action
rotation mechanics (really simple)
Now what do I do with all the scraps; well they sure as hell don't go to waste!
I put all my bad rolls, end snips, cut flats, and bad models.
And that is my hobby. so if you see me sitting in vent not playing games; you know what I'm doing.
