wireless internet range

my boarding school has a wireless internet, cool you might think, but it stops right infront of the door to my room. is there anyway i can get a connetion. and please dont come with sugestions for the router, i have no controle over it, only my laptop. i was thinking of some kind of satelitedich :P

either buy a mobile network usb connector, which gives you totally wireless internet.

or buy those plug things, where you plug it into the wall next to the router and its got a RJ45 connector in it that connects to the router, then have one next to your desk/bed and plug in a cat-5 cable.

yeah, ur pretty screwed. most schools that have wireless still have the ethernet jacks in the room... bring it up with the tech guys there or switch rooms.
