Poland agrees to host a US missle defense base.

Well its good progress but it seems to have stuck a cord with Russia. We might be saying we aren't having any military action against Russia but it looks like we are certainly preparing for it.

Hurrah, the US is wasting yet more money.

Wasting money is an American tradition.. And I won't have you mocking it!

Hurrah, the US is wasting yet more money. Yeah, not only the US, but all the developed countries. They've all wasted money on ICBM's they haven't even used yet.

Should go ahead and make good use of the money and launch them?

pfft, all this is about is an arms race between Russia and America, its like deja vu...

America places missile systems in Poland, incidently pretty close to Russia.

watch soon when Russia puts some badboy missiles in mexico or cuba.

US will go ballistic and demand they are removed.

This shows you how former bloc nations think about how serious the Russian-Georgian war is.

Think of it this way. Instead of the old "mutual assured destruction" we have with nuclear missiles; we will now have "mutual assured opps moments".

The difference here being that we're not nuts enough to fire first for no reason.

Even if a bomb was "destroyed" how different is it going to be from when it hits the ground intact??

Wherever it hits is gonna hurt :s

Hmm...

Nuclear missle hitting a crowded metropolis resulting in the deaths of countless millions of people...

Or

Nuclear missle being destroyed BEFORE it kills countless millions...

Pretty hard choice.

The United States has a three tier missile defense system, the largest range tier being made to hit incoming ICBMs and bombers with conventional, and sometimes very low yield tactical warheads.

A "Nuke" isn't just a doomsday device, a 10KT yield warhead would level Manhattan, a 10MT warhead would glass over the majority of Long Island.
