I've been working for a couple of days on this map (none of you know but I've been making maps for a while now) and I like how it turned out.

It's called Nakatomi Plaza because I'm a Die Hard fan and I figured it'd be a good name for a crazy tower map (plus if I named it Crazy_Tower it could be associated with Crazy_City which is a map I hate)

I took some pictures in Gmod...

looks interesting i'd like to try it out, post here when you upload the bsp.

are you using light_environment? and if so what brightness number?

I got rid of mine and it looks like you got rid of your light_environemnt too.

just curious

I always liked the "Tower/Watch out for falling" type maps. It looks a little plain, but if you upload I'll be sure to put it up for testing.

I put up the bsp for ya Graves

and General, there is a light env and the brightness is the recommended levels for the skybox which i obtained from this handy website

http://www.hl2world.com/wiki/index.php/Category:MappingTutorials

go down to the sky list section, it gives you all the info on correct lighting for each default skybox.

I got rid of my light environment and am using lights and it compiles super fast

I like light_environments because they give the map a very cool look, what with the dark side of the map and all. plus if you optimize you map (as in no colliding brushes, nodraw textures, etc) it doesn't take long to compile. mine takes 2 - 3 minutes to compile. plus regular lights give the lighting a very blotchy unrealistic look. for instance the inside of my tower's red lights look questionable when it comes to realism.
