People keep asking me : "Silent, why don't you update the server to 1.8"?. The short answer is that there is a massive shitstorm surrounding craftbukkit and a lot of developers quit. For those who don't know, craftbukkit is needed to run all of the plugins we currently have.

When will there be a new craftbukkit? I have no idea but I would imagine it would take months if it is actually true that someone is actually going to create a version for 1.8 . But hey, I will try to compensate by installing more cool plugins.

So for now we are running minecraft 1.7.10 , if you have updated you client then here is a guide on how to downgrade:

In case anyone is wondering what's happening around bukkit/craftbukkit, take a look at these:

That actually makes that situation better, also where did it say they're buying bukkit? or rather that they are going to pursue that aspect at this point, considering the whole thing is going to shit.

Yeah but its not really organized, maybe the base "operations" or just the website itself, but that's not really gonna save people from bailing out.

They bought Mojang in total for 2.5 billion dollars.. I'm saying "In Total" because that actually means they bought Bukkit with it.
So the three founders, Markus Persson, Carl Manneh and Jakob Porsér will leave the company.

The last key person (Vu Bui, previous Creative Executive Producer) will stay on with some others and will stay on as 'guide' and will keep on working on it.

I don't think this is bad or going to "Shit" as you say BoM, Don't expect the worst the moment you hear Microsoft is buying it.
My guess is that Microsoft just wants the profits and doesn't care about the game at all.

As said, I hope that they keep it simple (the whole concept of Minecraft) and keep it open to all consoles (Like PS4, their 'rival' on console level)

The re-Quote myself here.. It's not going to get better, they'll keep it at the same level and just go with the flow (money making). My guess is that this is the reason why there's no Minecon this year either.
They had this coming (Notch hated to be CEO, he never intended for it to become this big) and now Microsoft just saw the opportunity to throw a huge amount of money in the ring and hoped that they took this deal and they could leave on their own terms (as said on the Mojang website)

There are only a handful of potential buyers with the resources to grow Minecraft on a scale that it deserves. We’ve worked closely with Microsoft since 2012, and have been impressed by their continued dedication to our game and its development. We’re confident that Minecraft will continue to grow in an awesome way.

We are keeping an eye on the development of Sponge, just in case anyone is wondering. This will most likely replace bukkit.
