Title says it all, out of curiosity. According to my 'Years of Service' badge, I joined Steam on September 16th, 2003. My very first Steam game at that time was Counter-Strike 1.6.

How about everyone else?

I joined February of 2011. My first game was killing floor, but I didn't really start playing heavily until like, I think it was march or april, when the playstation network was hacked and went down for like a month. At the time all I had was a ps3 and a laptop, so when psn went down, all I could play was my laptop and it was a piece of shit, so all it could run was killing floor, and CSS. That's when I got into CSS. I played in sub-30 FPS, and it was normal for it to drop to below 20, but that didn't really bother me. I mean it was annoying but it was still playable enough for me to get good at the game.

EDIT: That's also the reason why I laugh when people bitch about a game being sub-60 fps. Lower FPS doesn't hinder skills, if you can't play well in sub-60, you can't play well in 60+.

My mom found HL2:DM was free on a forum and she told my brother. My brother had me make an account and we played HL2:DM. He got bored of it and I didn't. Then I told someone I was a girl and I got CS:S and Gmod. :D

I used to play CSS in cybercafes a lot (2 days a week), then my mom called me while I was wrecking pussy in-game and told me she found CSS for 30 bucks with other games (DOD:S, HL2:DM). I exploded in excitement and told her to buy it right away. It was on the 11th July 2006.

I guess she preferred to spend 30 bucks for me than paying 1.5 euros per hour for the cybercafe lol. My computer had an integrated GPU back then so I could only play on very small maps, on a gungame server. Then I bought my first graphic card and the whole CSS world opened its doors to me... One year later I went on a zombie escape server called SteamGamers | RUN BITCH RUN |where I got banned by an abusive admin for bs and there I am, 7 years later, a nice little round egg just asking for love.

Oh, and I got so many Steam games I got a scroll bar in my library...

Well, I wasn't on Steam for the whole time, but my account was made on October 17th, 2004. My father had made it and used it for about maybe a year or two. He had stopped playing due to chronic migraines, so therefore I started playing.

I believe my first game was Deathmatch Classic, since that's what I used to watch my dad play all the time. Shortly after I started playing HL2: DM, then Counter Strike: Source.

Joined in 2010 because my brother made me discover TF2. Before that, I always used to bug him to play on his computer. He also made me discover GMod. When I purchased that game I got many error signs, so I decided to buy CSS too. To this day they're still my favourite games.

The one I use right now was made on May 30th, 2009.

My original account was made somewhere in 2006-2007.

My first game was Half-Life 2. I played a shitton of HL2:DM Puzzle map servers.

I then got Counter-Strike: Source and played on a Zombie Survival server for a couple of years until they died in around 2008-2009.

That's when I made the account I'm currently using.

31st December, 2004. Was originally created by my father to play Half Life 2 at the time (which came with CS:S) but then I took over the account after he made a new one, got into playing CS:S after playing Half Life 2 and found ZM by joining a zombie napalm server Tinkerbell Pete was playing on.

I don't miss the days of playing source games at 20 FPS at all.

Feeling kinda old, 7½ year on steam, damn.

Edit: Think I started playing CS 1.6 in 2004 or 2005 in this after school thing, only played there for a long time though as I didn't have my own computer yet.

January 2004.

Started by playing Day of Defeat WON (pre-steam) in about 2002 then they made a switch to steam around 2003 and was made steam only around 2004-05ish. Used to be the best game ever. Then I decided to get Counter-Strike Source so that I could play Day of Defeat Source but DoD:S was no where close to the quality of DoD so I started to play CS:S and that is when I came across this community!

Probably started around March of 2010? My first game was CSS which led me to SG. Over the summer I spent a shit ton of hours on SG, ranking up around 200 by the end of the year.

I joined steam sometime in 2013. One of my good friends on PlayStation Network recommended Steam to me. He explained to me what it was and it sounded pretty cool to me, so I got an account.

As for my first game on Steam, I actually didn't purchase myself. My friend got me the package that came with Garry's Mod and Counter-Strike: Source, I enjoy them both. But I'd play Counter-Strike over Garry's Mod any day.

I know this wasn't asked, but I wanted to tell people how I found out about the Steam Gamer's community. So, when I joined Counter-Strike, I went on the server list and saw this "Jail Break" gamemode. It wasn't the Steam Gamer's jail break server, but I joined it and it was extremely fun. But the people there were annoying and stupid as hell. So I was searching through the server list for other jail break servers, and one caught my eye since it looked like this: "///Jail Break\\\." So I joined at had a great time. Majority of my CS:Source hours are spent on SG Jail Break. I actually remember freekilling a dude that wasn't inside a disco, since those were the orders, and didn't warning shot. No admins were on so I got away with it. :3 I played more and more and I met this one person who was extremely nice, Extreme Potatoes. I added him as my friend and he told me to join the community, and he had to tell me step-by-step how to. I probably wouldn't of have had been a part of Steam Gamers right now if it wasn't for Potatoes.

Thanks, Extreme Potatoes. :3

2009.. back then everyone i knew played Diablo 2 and Starcraft... so I really cant remember any main reason for downloading steam and then (using my mom's credit card) to buy counter strike source.. Anyway, after getting CSS I quickly learned our desktop at home could barely run it! So I cut a few wires inside the computer, removed the heatsink and when the computer stopped working I simply told my parents it was broken from being old. So we got a new desktop. After that the first server I reguallarly played in was our ZE server and fell in love.
