LOL, Live Action film.

Personally, I don't think a lot of good films come out of Japan, period, let alone one based on an anime series. Truth be told, I haven't seen many, but what I have seen, just did not impress.

They should really stick with the animation, an extension or atleast a cap. Gantz anime series didn't even really end adequately, so it would be preferable to complete that first before comming back and doing this.

Is anyone reading the manga currently? Last I checked it was still ongoing, and if that's the case, what is the point?

Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. has hired Harry Potter adapter Steve Kloves to pen a new draft of the script for the Albert Hughes directed adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira.
Variety notes that the latest version of the script was by Albert Torres, with earlier drafts from Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby and Gary Whitta.

On the unconfirmed side of matters, the latest iteration of Akira casting rumors is that James Franco is in talks to play lead Shotaro Kaneda.

Oh fantastic...another american playing a foreigner's role. I can't possibly think of any example as to where this has failed.

I saw it and one thing made me love it more than the anime. Unfortunately, I can say what it is because it's a spoiler :(
