well... I've been holding this off for a long time nervous to show my work to people I don't know' but as sure as the slayer I'm listening to as I type is, I assure you that this will be good.

A while back during tech drafting class (in which I learned nothing of value or importance), I was taking the masking tape off the corners of my paper when I rolled one up into a tube... little did I know at the time that that single tape tube would dictate many hours of my life for the next 6 or 7 months.

I started small... little bridges and structures that resembled toothpick structures. I later moved on to curved structures and circles.

Basic Inctructions

take your tape (see below for obvious example)

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h276/bluefalcon04/masking%20tape/100_0113.jpg

then your take your finger and peel the corner up and roll it at an angle towards the other end all the while sort of pulling it towards the inside of the angle.

if done correctly, it should turn out like this.

Wow, your doing great... keep it up!

after nailing the basics of my, what I believe to be, self-taught and new form of art; I was able to make... things (which I think was just the natural evolution of the skill set).

I started simple and gradually moved up, getting larger and more complex with each creation.

I have some pictures of the things I've made in somewhat chronological order with commentary.

My older, not overly simplistic, models (with paperclips and pencil eraser for general scale)

Now what do I do with all the scraps; well they sure as hell don't go to waste!

I put all my bad rolls, end snips, cut flats, and bad models.

And that is my hobby. so if you see me sitting in vent not playing games; you know what I'm doing.

holy crap thats amazing! awesome stuff, btw how do u get them to stick together? glue? tape?

Falcon04
20 Apr 2008, 09:21pm
They get rolled inside-out, so the sticky part is on the outside. then you just stick em together.

oh, and I have updates on the scrap pieces thing. I actually found an old tape thing I started a while back and took it apart (or ripped it apart) and made good use of the old pieces.

I was thinking the same thing.

he has a hidden passion for it, disguised as art.

Very Interesting.

the scraps piece, in a way, reminds me of Jhonen Vasquez's work. it has a similar feel... i think it's the torso.

One of the greatest artists ever in my opinion.

And Falcon. Seriously go to deviantart and sell some prints. Or at least put some sculptures on ebay. There are people out there who would by em. Like NIKO.

WOW. That is some awesome work there.

Have you ever thought about making something really big? Like a city landscape kinda thing? And how much have you spent on tape? :)

Falcon04
6 May 2008, 03:21pm
I've only used a total of 3 rolls of scotch 3/4 in. tape.

and yes, I have thought if making bigger things, and will eventually. I'm scaling up slowly.
