The Political Compass is a test made of 5 pages, each asking questions on different subject.

The questions are written in the form of statements, and you must choose how much do you agree with the statement, with the options being: Strongly agree, Agree, Disagree, Strongly disagree.

For example, here's the first statement from the first page: "If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations." (not all questions use big words like this one though).

At the end of the test, you will be told where do you stand on the political compass:

Here's the political compass of a few known figures:

Here's my political compass stance:

Economic Left/Right: -3.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.72

What's your political stance?

A hemisphere capped conical pyramid works better imho since the further you go in any direction from the center the closer you come to converging on a single point in "batshit insane" territory.

I was almost smack dab in the middle, only one to the right and one up.

I have to agree, because I'm an independent.

Although the test is somewhat accurate, there are points where I believe it requires more debate to be settled. Marijuana, economically, is good. Socially, it is considered bad. But medically, it is good.

Really hard to decide on a lot. I tried to feel more towards a mixed economy because I believe regulation is key, etc.

All of these "4-way" political tests are created by libertatian groups. They ask overly simplistic questions such that the vast majority of people will end up in the "libertarian" section regardless of their actual beliefs. This is essentially propaganda for Libertarianism.

I am a Constitutional Minarchist myself, so I dont have anything against Libertarianism, I just wanted to point out that these tests are propaganda shams.
