So i turned on my Desktop today, like every other normal day and it doesnt seem to be working the way it usually does. I Press power, Click start windows xp home edition normally, then it takes me to a random blue screen... most people know it as the blue screen of death.

How the fuck do i fix the blue screen of death????

posted this via Laptop. Desktop is fucked

Try taking out the RAM 1by1.
Ex: Take 1out start the comp, then see what happens. Then replace that stick and take out a new one and try again.

i had an issue similar to yours a while back (screen was black not blue), did labar said, and it turned out one of my ram sticks was fucked up. no real way to test ram except trying it one at a time and going from there to see if your pc gets fucked. chances are though you have a corrupted file in the os, so you better find your xp disk and that serial code because you're probably going to have to reinstall

The blue screen isn't always to do with hardware, just yesterday I had one :) after about 2/3 boot attempts I was back to normal ;)

But hey, might as well try it, if nothing works try booting it up a couple of times.

Download the ISO and burn it onto a CD. You can use Magic ISO to burn an ISO if you don't have a program to do it. I would let it run about a half an hour or until you get errors. Even if it comes up clean it doesn't mean your memory is completely good.

It isn't a random blue screen if it has text. This may be painstaking but it would be very helpful if you could tell us what the error it says at the top left is, like IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL etc. this makes diagnosing the cause more likely.

do what spiffy said first, run mem test, ubuntu has a mem test as well (always a good, free OS to have on disc just in case) if the mem test fails then you know its a mem problem, in future do what potshot said. try and post all the info you can, i know the BSOD flashes up and then goes away pretty quick, but do it enough times you will be able to get the info needed to help use solve your problem quicker.
