In an interview with Eurogamer earlier this week, THQ core boss Danny Bilson stated that plans are underway for the production of Dawn of War 3.

Retribution's going to ship in February, and then we start laying out Dawn of War III. You can probably expect it between 18 months and two years after that.

This will place the game within the planned period of August 2012 to February 2013, assuming everything goes to plan.

Relic is definitely keeping quite busy with the recent annoucement of Dawn of War 2: Retribution, developing Company of Heroes: Online for North American and European audiences, as well as on-going production on their action/shooter game, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. Specific details about this new Dawn of War are unknown at this point, as it is in the, "early formative stage," but one part of the game has been nailed down for sure:
Now Dawn of War III, either way, is going to have a much larger strategic component to it, more of a global battle going on with little tactical things, sort of MMO-like.

This may lead to a very interesting direction for the franchise that's not too dissimilar to the micro-transactions RTSMMO style of Company of Heroes: Online, depending on how well the features included on that game are welcomed by fans. Perhaps a completely free-to-play experience for DoW3 wouldn't be too far of a stretch to consider.

The interview also states plenty of additional information about Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, as well as brief information about THQ's other projects that are non-Relic related.

No thanks, unless they build it Total War style.
