Whats the style of the map?
The map should look natural!

Tipps:


Don't use 3D-Skyboxes in ur part, because it doesnt work, if i put all parts together.

M'kay, I did say that all my content was deleted, but I salvaged my backup from the darkest corner of my external HD. I have the spawn done, except for some minor touch-ups and fixing little flaws. If you don't mind, I'd like to pick some of the music for the map.

Pics will be up tomorrow, though it might take some time cuz I need to dick around with the textures.

Just 4 kinds of blocks
Wooden Blocks

Second skybox:


Water looks like a see
The walls have to be in the map, because there can't be an 3D-Skybox in a multimap

Third skybos:


Add some plants on the ground

Other notes:


Remove the light (prop_dynamic), because it looks strange

Ps. I got a great waterfall texture. Perhaps you could keep a place for a waterfall (u could do it with a "nodraw"-texture (http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/File:Toolsnodraw.gif), so that i can replace the texture)

yeh, i didnt really care about the water yet, just added it so i wouldn't die every time i tested

Well, then first i'd kind of need to know what the waterfall looks like ... how big it is, etc ...

could u upload a .vmf instead of .vmx ... my pc is acting weird & it won't let me change the extention :mmph:

The maps I'm working on are getting boring too... I guess I could try to help. If anyone isn't working on the aim_deagle type map I could try that. I'm not an AMAZINGLY AWESOME SUPER MAPPER, but I could try to make one, and if you don't like it, you don't have to use it ;)

Edit: Do you know how to make it headshots only in hammer? :/

If I might note, TopHATTWaffle has some absolutely amazing waterfall and water textures. Don't know if that's what you used, just wanted to say. The megaupload will be up tomorrow, bright and early, and I'll start work on something else. But you need to tell me what the common theme is of this map, if any, so that I can coordinate.

1. do u want the climb to be ...

A) a pain in the ass hard
B) split up in levels --> first lvl easy ... second lvl harder ... etc
C) easy overall

2. How to end the climb ...

A) 2 buttons, one = kill all CT / the other = kill all T
B) all get teleported to a small 'fightmap' ... they receive guns in order of how far they made it ... the higher they get the stronger the guns

But maybe there could be a "bonus level", wich is nearly imposible and when u finish it, u'll get para and all player will be teleportet in a little room, where u can kill them.

Here's an update on the progress again ...

I've already made lvl 1 & 2 ... still gotta make lvl3 , lvl 4 and bonus

lvl1: easy, use of moving ladders
lvl2: bit harder, still easy, the usual climb
lvl3: hard, here i'll make the jumps higher/further from eachother ... some will be moving
lvl4: get at it, everything will be moving and it will be moving fast, perfect timing will be a must
bonus lvl: consist out of everything u just heard from previous lvls (for the finnish u have to jump down & evade hitting plates (u will receive 34 damage if u hit a plate ... so u only get 3 chances)

lvl1: u get he-grenade + deagle (u spawn in a pit with no cover)
lvl2: u get he-grenade + deagle + M3 (shotgun) (u spawn in the same pit)
lvl3: u get he-grenade + deagle + MP5 (u spawn outside the pit, no cover)
lvl4: u get he-grenade + deagle + M4 (u spawn outside the pit, with cover)
bonus lvl: u get the machine gun (forgot name) & all get teleported in a little box for u to kill.

little detail ... if u (for example) get into lvl4 but u don't make it till the highest spot u will be counted as a lvl 3

Okay download works now but 1 BIG TIP!!

every platform you make there make it a func_detail
EVERY because i tried to compile on normal and it took so long that i just stopped it.
So if you func_detail every little platform compile wil be like done within 30 seconds instead of idk 10 min...

Upload it again when thats done.

My map is almost done (the ice skate), I go test it and CS:S keeps crashing at "Loading Resources".
If anyone has any idea why this is happening, please add me on steam: Metalhead1991

hmm, ... basicly i made it so that nearly everything in the rock texture is a ladder ... I can't really imagine an identifiable laddertexture that wouldn't make it look gay :confused: ... anyways when i send in the finnished version u can change whatever u want to it :thumb:

here this should pretty much be the final version

time before u get teleported = 4 minutes (or 240 sec :thumb:)

must say ... i used 2 filter_activator_team to seperate the t-team & ct-team ... this was for the teleports to the fightmap

ps. the timer for 4 minutes start as soon as u start climbing ...

side note, i made 3 extra teleports at the spawn ... this is so u guys can use them to check out the climb without having to do all the trouble ... eventually these 3 should get deleted when u finalise :thumb:

For this one I spaced out the boxes, and made it so players only get deagles and not knives (because it is headshots only)

i'd prefer if u could run from room to room (so a room has more than 1 entrance)

uhm.. no need to fix the water lol i compiled the map without water so the water won't show. And a water_lod_control is only ment for moving the water, and the water looks horible when you use func_water_lod_control.

And lol i thought about adding dynamic water too but didn't thought you guys knew about it :D

And Exacto this map isn't finished yet i'm gonna make some more hallways and door so don't worry :)

M'kay, since MundM is being a bit negligent, I will be commandeering this ship until he gets the stones to post frequently and regulate the mapping team.


So far we have completed : Spawn (iNorris and MundM), Knife (Whazaaaaa), AWP & Scout (floffypus, Scout has not been confirmed yet), Climb (Exacto-Be), and Deagle (Sandvich).


Nishok is currently working on Ice-Skate, but that still leaves Sliderace, HE Grenade, Dodgeball, Bhop, Smash, and whatever the hell Jumper is. I am willing to take Dodgeball or Grenade. If you would like to be officially assigned to a minigame, drop me a visitor message and I'll make a mapper list.


All mappers are welcome. The reward will be split if we win anything in the mapping contest, and I won't be taking any money so that means MORE MONEY FOR YOU!

Floffy, the AWP map is awesome. The only criticism i have is that there is a missing texture on a sign (at least i think its a sign), and that you need to nodraw the backs of the building to decrease the filesize and increase performance. We will worry about the texture when we reach the final compile.

Edit: Also, we will only need video editing once we finish the map and get some footage in-server. And since we can't submit our map until October, youre going to have to sit tight for a month. Enjoy your stay at Steamgamers!

What is this bullshittery? Are MundM and gTm related? There is no way you would be that cozy without knowing each other prior to this. I will agree, you fixed up my spawn, but all you did was change up the lights and textures. Same goes for the deagle map.

And this is no one person's map. MundM came to us with a business proposition, that is, to make a joint multigame map, and we were more than glad to help. We work as a team, and we take credit as a team. I already chose to not take part in the cash reward if we win, as I haven't made enough if a contribution.

There is absolutely no need for harsh words directed towards floffy. He worked hard on his map, and while it may not be "teh awesome" as the kids say these days, he tried his best, and it would be amazing with a bit of work. So calm the hell down, we are still in the developmental stages.

Since MundM has resurfaced, I advise that you try to organize this shindig better. I already drafted Neji to help out. Maybe you might want to do the same.

Floffy, here is how you make it so the players are equipped with Awps and knives when your map is picked:

Tut Alert!

Make a block with the "trigger" texture.
Now press CTRL + T and make it a "trigger_multiple". Now, with the entity tool, make a "game_player_equip" entity.
Name it whatever you want. Now, go to its properties and click "SmartEdit". Click "add". Where the popup says "Key", type in "weapon_awp". Then in value, make sure it says 1.
Add another and do the same with "weapon_knife" instead of awp. Now go to the flags for the player equip, and check "Use Only".
Now go back to your trigger_multiple and make sure "Clients" is checked in the flags.
Now go to outputs and click "Add". Make the output name "OnTrigger", target entities named "whatever you named the game_player_equip", Via the input "use".
Now click apply and copy-and-paste the trigger_multiple, and put one under each tele destination.

I also made a prefab (http://www.mediafire.com/?tbu9i1jdqgacawv) of this if you want to use it or just cant understand my bad tut ;). Just take the two "trigger_multiple"s and put one under each team's teleport destination :thumb:

First off.. Why is there a shotgun?

Then.. That map you made IS SHIT (no offence) and il tell you why.

1. You get a FREAKIN SHOTGUN IN DODGEBALL!!!!!!!
2. The map is WAY TOO SMALL is like made for 4 vs 4 players maybe less (imagene with 64 players......)

Thats pretty much it just make it bigger WITHOUT SHOTGUN (Thats Overkill!)
But design is pretty nice if it was bigger tho.

So Please change this shitmap (no offence) to a bigger and better DODGEBALL MAP (not supposed to be pump shotgun where you get 20 kills in 1 shotgun shot)

Yeah I figured. At first i was thinking of randomizer's dodgeball, but then my flash went through the floor and BOOM...epiphany.

Yeah, I think you just a trigger_hurt (99 HP/sec) over the entire area and "OnStartTouch--Kill (as in kill the entity)--After Delay of 0.5 sec"

And the grenades have to be regenerating, as 4 grenades on a 40-person server = 36 people milling around aimlessly until an admin comes and ends the round.

Wall texture kinda looks funny. Maybe it's just me.

The grenades have to be regenerative. Not everybody's aim is impecable, and even 50 grenade pillars, as you seem to like, will not be enough, I can garuantee it.

none of those...

you make a logic_auto
you make a point_template for every nade spawn
you make a weapon_smokegreande for every nade spawn

Got A Problem!!!
I got a "Smoke" -> I throw the "Smoke" -> I pick up a new "Smoke" -> I see no "Smoke" (but a crosshair)

Smoke = weapon_smokegrenade

Edit: It's there, other player can see it, but i can't throw it and i can't see it.

I cannot understand the first part. I understand that it's probably your second language, but please check it over for grammatical a spelling errors.

What I'm discerning from it, you're trying to say that when you throw and pick up a grenade at the same time, there is a crosshair but no grenade? What would the weapon stripper do to help that, get rid of the current grenade so that they can pick up a new one?

Wait I was confused too but I rmember on smoke wars a glitch where this happens. Don't know what causes it or how t fix it. Try remaking the grenade spawners. Also make sure to use a closed areaportal just under the illusionary floor or it will start to laggg. That might actually be what's causing it tbh.

I had this problem on mg_randomizer. Thats why I made like a push through box.

I had a trigger push and inside the trigger push I had a player_strip trigger followed by a trigger_multiple that gave them a new smoke grenade. This stops you from glitching the nade. The only other way to get rid of this is to give them a knife or another weapon.

60% at a stretch. None of it is seriously tested, they haven't been combined (to my knowledge), I'm assuming it isn't fully optimized, and we don't have all the maps made yet. I asked Neji to make HE, but I don't think he is :(

If u fall down at the spawn, u get teleported in this corridor/room. In this corridor/room is a door wich teleports u back to spaw.

I dont think it's possible. Correct me if I'm wrong, but everything is refreshed at "Round Start," and the only way to randomize is logic_case.

Yes, that's right.
Either u can trigger the logic_case (PickRandom) with a logic_auto (OnMapSpawn) or with a trigger_multiple (OnStartTouch).

You can make sure it doesn't play 2 times in a row (more than just random, you can actually 100% guarantee it won't play two times in a row) but it would take a lot of entities and in/outputs :X lol.

Basicly it's a temple with 2 trenches on the sides ...
(still have to add some extra cover ... & perhaps some trees and stuff)

4 ways to get to eachother,

over the temple
trough the trenches
trough the temple
for the crazy bitches, a simply blind straight rush is possible too
