I'm modding my GPU, and its all been going well until I realized that the mini-heatsinks provided were not sticking to the RAM chips on the cards. I tried cleaning them with isopropyl alcohol but the issue remains. Since I can't manage to get the sinks to stay on I'm ordering thermal adhesive (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100013&cm_re=thermal_adhesive-_-35-100-013-_-Product) to make the sure the fuckers stay on, permanently.

Y/N? From what I understand there's no coming back from this shit, it's like cement.

Ah yes, fun fun. My friend pretty much had the same problem and he ended up using the same solution (Arctic Silver is definitely the best.) We we tried to take them off like 6 months later to put water cooling on he managed to rip the ram chips off despite our best efforts to separate them. So yes, it's pretty much permanent.

Hmm, that's weird. I got myself an aftermarket GPU cooler for my 8800 GT a year ago and it included a type of thermal tape on the RAM/Misc heatsinks. Those heatsinks have stayed on ever since.

If you're not entirely sure about using thermal adhesive remember that thermal tape is always an alternative. Well, as long as it's not a HUGE heatsink or anything.

Yeh, go with Spiffy on this, Artic Silver is the best one to ues, but be careful, if you ever want to remove the fans it's going to be a bloody hard job!

Shit's already been applied so all of the above is a moot point. Stuff mixes easily and spreads just like thermal paste. I'll make a thread in tech tomorrow after final assembly and testing.
