Steelsound v2

USB headset with usb sound card. Most comfortable headset I've used. Don't need to install drivers, just plug it in.

Has retractable mic.

^^ I plan on getting a pair of these eventually...If I could ever push myself to spend $100+ on a headset xD

I spent $60 on Icemat Siberias < High mic quality and very good sound although the headset itself isnt very sturdy and tends to break in the same spot on all Icemats.

If you need a mic, take a look at the Razer Baracuda, which is a massive thing with actual surround sound. I considered getting it, but you need either one of those digital audio slot things on your sound card or else space for like, six jacks (i plug in on the front of my computer, no room). Reviews are good. and they won't break the bank. They pressure you to get their audio card with the set, but i don't think its necessary if you have a good one.

Razers other headphone is not all too remarkable, just another gaming headset.

If you don't necessarily need a mic, get a good senheisser.

my Creative Fatal1ty set came with a warranty. I used it when i broke the cord. However, i wouldn't spend money on a warranty unless you paid over $100 for the headset.

Don't get them, Medusa sponsored my old America's Army Cal-I team. The shit breaks easily and the warranty policy sucks ass. They wanted me to pay more for the shipping of the "free replacement" than the headphones were originally worth. I said fuck you and hung up on the owner. I would recommend sennheiser headphones, great quality and good policy. Or even razer would be good.... I use the razer sound card atm, tempted to try the headphones soon.

I'm getting this tomorrow, the AX51: http://www.trittontechnologies.com/products/TRIAI712.htm

High-quality, but make sure you have a sound card that supports surround sound. I'll tell you how it is tomorrow.

But, I'd avoid this headset, the AXPC: http://www.trittontechnologies.com/products/TRIUA512.htm

It doesn't require a soundcard, just the USB connection, and it is surround sound complete with a lovely sounding bass. Very good for music and movies, but games... not so much. I'm trading the AXPC in tomorrow for the AX51 because I get static in games like Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 1942. Apparently the cause of the static is because the games use OpenAL for sound, and the AXPC's USB soundcard is not good with OpenAL. I talked with the tech support guy and he said it's affected very few people, but who knows. Good luck finding an adequate headset.

Game Informer Magazine is a hunk of crap . All they do is mooch off the advertisements and make sure they don't write crap about their major advertisers.

One Big ad is what it is.

i have the same headsets as Raven. Only issue is that the Mic is a clip on one, and the support bars are kind weak, but I have warn them for 12 plus and never had them hurt my ears, even with my glasses. Sound is amazing and the bass is great too.

I would say go with the Fatality headset, when I was searching for a new one I got it down to the fatality and Tritton AXPC, ended up going with the Tritton cuz it has surround sound and is easy to break apart. Though looking at NewEgg now, it seems Tritton has released a new headset and dropped the price of the AXPC to 60 bucks which isn't a bad deal for what you get. Definitely the best sound quality I've heard in a headset, and if you wear glasses its perfect. usb, swivel + detachable mic (when you smoke at the computer, swivle is a very good thing), is a little big on my head but then again my heads not the size of an average guys, took it to a con and had no problem with noise interference.

looked at the steel series too and found that it had structural problems and the sound wasn't that great if I remember correctly.

I can't understand why Logitech makes great speakers but can't make a decent headset.

I got a 20 Dollar Logitech Mic w/ USB Connection. I Set it up so I only use my mic, and the sound of the game goes through my Speakers instead of my headset. Much better that way.

For real, fuck their headsets. I've had two of them have the sound stop working on them. Pieces of dog shit.

Love mine:

A bit pricey, but they sound as good as my car stereo. The dolby 5.1 brings the game to your desk. 5 stars for these ones.

Yeah, the AX51 kicks ass. It could use a change it design (lime-green? what the fuck?) but the sound it puts out makes up for that immensely. I <3 the subwoofer on it.

Headphones I use, no need for the 5.1 gimmick :/
I use a clip on mic.
Headphones ,decent ones, tend to > "gaming" headsets in terms of everything.

no way, lime-green ftw! I'm so pissed they came out with this right after I bought the Tritton AXPC. I know theres probably not that much difference between them but I WANT LIME-GREEN!:001_tt1:

I got the Razer Baracuda when my Logitech ones broke.
The difference was amazing i could hear people coming from a mile away, really made a difference in my cal matches, some of the reviews did say that they break kinda fast but i still havent seen anything.

+ they look cool :tongue_smilie:

damn i wish i could have caught ya before u got the razors....... i have done ALOT of research on headsets .... way to much in fact.
it really depends on what your going to use the head set for... playing music, gaming , gaming=for fun gaming= for competition ??
or all of the above.

heres the run down i have found.

1. razors suck ( i have the razor copperhead mouse and love it) but their head phones are cheaply built, ear peices break and the mic is horid bought a pair took them back in a week .. buddy has a pair now and voice sounds worse then before.
2. playtronics over the ear, exspenive ones .. very good for music, tons of bass... had bad luck with mic cutting out and 2 brand new sets... so bad mics.
3. steel series... not bad good overall lacks a lil bass took them back just because wanted to see if anything out their that was better.
4. logitecs... pretty decent no bass to them, mic works and does its job, u can hear things pretty well in game, and they are as tough as a tank.. man i put these through hell and back. but not for competition
5.sennheisers what i have now... luv them ... could have a lil more bass to them but very clear u can hear a terrorist fart from spawn, mic is crystal clear, longg lasting good craftsmen ship, comfy on ears. i have the pc166 headset. although i wish these went over the ear not just on it.

my next head set to test .. more then likely to keep is the new sennheisers
the pc350 drool over the ear heavy bass so they say...... must get!!! alot of money though
