I watched Mnemosyne (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mnemosyne_%28anime%29) about a year ago.
I was entertained through a lot of it. It's pretty fucked up in a few parts, so I do not recommend it if you have not seen really weird/violent animes before.
I suggest anyone who likes action and has a strong stomach to watch it. It has 6 episodes, but each are ~45 minutes long (if I recall correctly).
If you aren't used to violent and disturbing animes, be cautions.
Involves a few scenes with a lot of death, blood, gore, cutting, sword insertions (there are characters who can't die, so they stick swords through them to make them suffer and stuff...), etc
