This is the Proper thread for the 2nd mario map that will feature luigi. The map is divided into sections so i will update this thread when a section is completed.

Just a thought. Why don't you name it 'ze_luigis_mansion'? There is a game based on it, and it sounds more appealing IMO.

Actually the orignal plan was to base it off the Super Mario World ghost houses but the luigi Manison seems more popular so as of now the map name is ze_luigismanison.

I will try to make each section as none linear as possible which seems to be a major problem for alot of new maps.

lol how does that sound like deathrun? you do realize that in deathrun the "T" team is pushing buttons to stop the CT's from progressing to the end of the map, while in this map the "T" team is zombies following and trying to kill the CT's from getting to the end of the map. Not really the same...

You would be better off taking the screenshots at a downward angle that is further back so that it is easier to see the paths on the map and where everything leads to, or at least thats how i would do it.

Well it goes inside or at least I believe that it does so I am not sure if he can do that just yet. I might be wrong though :blink1:

Also, this map looks great! You're doing a great job please release it soon haha. If you need a tester I can help you out.

Let him work rather than harassing him for pictures and then bothering him with how the screenies look.

I prefer screenshots that just give a general look at an area, I want to find out which way to go and where leads to what when the map is actually out, gives some surprise and builds up excitement for when I actually get to play it.

Not everyone has time to just take a whole month off to work on a CS:S map, let him finish it at his own pace. I'd rather get an awesome map next year than a shitty rushed map in a month cause you won't leave him alone about getting it done.

screenshots of the 3 sections. These SS only show a portion of the each area but, they do tend to give a general look. btw, the images will be darker then the actual map will be in game. Finals week is coming up but once i get those done with, i can devote more time to this project. Ill be studying until then which is next week.

I will now be taking the next 2 weeks to fix bugs, add easter eggs, secrets , and other fixes before i can release a public beta that anyone can dl and try out. This has definity been on of the longest and most complex maps i have ever built. My major concerns now are Map round times and Map file size. For rounds we are looking at the very least, 8 minute rounds and the map size so far is 28 megabytes. Thats not including the last 20% of stuff i need to add.

The map completetion is near. If i can get my work done, i could have it ready by friday night, though im doubtful it will be that soon. After the beta is released and updates for post testing are done i will relase a final. Also i plan to update both turok maps,
Mountain pass, and Mario Tower and petition them on the map suggestion forum.

sorry guys the beta somehow got all fucked up. old sound that i had gotten rid of somehow replaced everything i just had and have had on the map for a weeks. old problems problems that i fixed also reappeared with no explantion. so im going to have to hold off the release.


update - ok pakrat is being a pos and refuses to add the new sound files by pretending that they dont exist. ill have to use a res file and include the sound files in a folder.

Ok, from what I saw was pretty good, except I found myself wondering around aimlessly half the time. It would work wonders if there was some sort of arrows pointing to the 'safe points'.

Also when you're at the final ending with bowser randomly popping up, it's kind of confusing since you don't know why you're there. I just figured to stay there since I saw a white light on the other side, it's also quite a long time to defend from zombies. Some more commands to tell you what to do via console would help aswell.

I was missing quite a lot of textures, but I don't know if that's just my computer.

Yeah im in the same ballpark as Lucid......the maps looks nice.......just hella confusing. Probably over time though there will be 1path everyone takes and it wont be as bad. I also was missing alot of textures as well.

Well the lobby and parts with the Safe Areas are meant to be confusing sincei its basicly a maze. The map then becomes much more linear when you enter the tower. I ill add more console commands so ppl at least know what their suppose to be tryinig to do and whats going on.

As for whats going on at the end. Basicly your escaping the manison as the dimenison its in is now falling apart due to the destruction of the rouge luma (borrowed some super mario galaxay concepts for this). Bowser trying to stop you for the sole purpose of being an asshole and then luigi arrives to rescue you.

For about a year and a half i was part of a smaller community that was running (by my reckoning) one of the most complex and heavly modded server ever. It was ran by a guy who is really good with customization, another who was very good at making custom models and i was the mapper. We had super mario mod, lord of the rings mod, resident evil 1 -5 mods, alien , predator, AVP mods,antlion mods, FEAR mod, etc, etc ,etc. Basicly i got a huge libary of models and props and whatnot. The server is no more due to lack of interest but i asked if i could use that stuff in my escape maps and whatnot.

Ah, I'd agree that some of these maps could be improved upon and hope you are able to make them more playable and enjoyable.

I also have a question i need to ask. The Time it takes to complete Luigismanison is anwhere from 7 to 8 minutes. So basicly the round time on the server will have to be at least 9 mins to give a good buffer. Is that something i take care of via Console command script/ Point Command, or does the server admin just scrpit that in for that particular map?


Side Note - the size of the map is 75 mb. I hope that doesnt cause too much concern for server downloading time.

hmm.. I don't know if it works. When i do "Create a server and test it, the round time doesnt switch to 9, just stays at the preset.

Hmmm... It could be because of 3 things:
1. You checked the box that says "Fire only once" which maybe means it will only work for one round I think.
2. You have too many spaces in between the # and the command.
3. the command may be mp_timelimit rather than roundlimit. You can check this by testing with the console in-game.

I checked it via console, the command is mp_roundtime. so everything should be inorder.
