To those interested:

We elect our presidents and senators, but Supreme Court Justices, and Federal Court Judges are largely appointed. Where do you think the Court will be going as the new elections loom? three of the judges on the bench are very old and may very well be replaced in the next term.

What issues do you feel need to be litigated before the court, while the current bench is active? What issues do you feel are best left for a newer court? Why?

Also, for the sake of shits and giggles, do you have a favorite justice and why? (Any era of history is fine)

Mine is Oliver Wendell Holmes:

The guy was a witty, albeit long winded writer, and made some great opinions that are worth a read. He fought in the civil war and yelled at president Lincoln during a battle, and gave my favorite statement in any court decision in Buck v. Bell, (three generations of imbeciles is enough) in approving the sterilization of a retarded person.

The guy had some lines that seemed like they came out of an action movie.

Issues that will most likely rise in the forseable future will depend on who becomes President.

I don't see Roe v. Wade being thrown in there since McCain is moderate, our congress is democrat led, and neither Obama or Clinton are in favor of life.

If McCain gets elected, I could see a few cases coming before them that have to do with rights of the people, warrantless search and seizures, warrantless phone taps.. etc.
