I know it sucks, but there are way too many people downloading the game right now for the server to handle all of you.
We're furiously working on a solution to make things better.

I'm pretty sure you have to buy it from the app store. (Also, this isn't the steam version, though you can add it to steam, through the non-steam products.) That sucks about the servers being busy, though. Mine downloaded on my first try, in less then 5 mins. It's really a small download! (30mb)
