Extend the surf and add more holding ones. Later I will add secrets and cool rewards for when the humans get to the end. No fkin nuke -.-

So I started on my first zombie surf map. Instead of combat only I will make a surf escape map. It's pretty hard to explain it all but I will do my best.

The surf

The surf will be going from easy to hard. It's nothing else than a linear surf map. But, as you start in the spawn, there is not only 1 long surf way but there will be two different ones. These both different surf ways are identical.

Failing the surf

Failing during surf (like failing in any other surf map) will result in a ticket to jail. This jail is no combat jail but just a patience jail. It has a different system. If you just let everyone out at the same time it would be a mayhem in spawn. I want to give the humans a second chance after a failure.

How does it work?

When you fail as either a human or a zombie, you will end up in a jail that is located in the middle of the spawn. This jail has a timer of 40 seconds. At the begin of the timer all humans will be teleported out and will be put in a small room that is located in the spawn. After 10 seconds (10 seconds time to collect all the failing humans in a room so they can leave as a group. When you are alone its nearly impossible to dodge the zombies) this door will open and you can leave spawn. Then after 10 seconds the same will happen for the zombies.
Now you think, those humans can now just camp in the spawn and kill the zombies, or otherwise. The zombies can.
Well, hehehe...heh.....no.
When this small room opens you have exactly 10 seconds to leave the spawn, or else you will be thrown back into jail. Also the same for the zombies.
This system will make sure that spawncamping is impossible and every team will have a fair chance of getting out of the spawn and restarting the surf.
And afk people? They will be set on fire. Really.

Surf escape & Zombies

No, that is not going to be a boring ramp where zombies are chasing you. As I said it will be like any other linear map. With challenging twists and turns etc. etc.
But unlike linear maps, this map will have surf breaks. I already made one ''break''. After some time of surfing, the humans (lets sketch the situation that they are being chased by zombies) arrive at a holding zone. Now they will have to climb up a few crates and then they stand on an edge. At this edge there may be a door or a teleporter that has to be activated.
In this sketched situation there will be a door.
When the humans arrive they will have to press a button, and they get the message:
''Door will open in 30 seconds''
That means that the humans will have to hold this zone for 30 seconds (Don't let the zombies get near you or you will get infected) by shooting them off the crates. After the 30 secs the door will open and they can continue with surfing.

I believe this will be very challenging and really fun to play. As zombie escape servers are already fun, I think zombie surf escape will be even more fun.
The spawn and the first part of the map are already done and I will post pics soon enough.

Everything is still on mat_fullbright 1 because I always do the lights at the end. Until then the compile times are really short which is really usefull for testing.

Yeah a lot of textures will change. From spawn till booster chamber will stay. Then it will change again. Gonna use different themes.

Ah kk,

Well its an interesting concept/ way to make a map for zs, I hope it pays off and delivers.

Again gl and keep us posted with screenies to see how the maps evolving, if you get time that is :)

Looks awesome man, i think most of the guys who make a zs map make it in the air or something (like me xD)
But yours is inside looks very cool cant wait to see it with light in it :)

Okay so I am practically done with the surf. The map will continue with 1 holding zone after the seperated groups come together. Then there will be a bunker with a mission in it. The bunker will blow up if you dont make it into the safety room. People outside the bunker will die because of nervegas.

I am going to add secrets in the map also, and ofc lighting

Well if that could be asap then it would be good. Do I have you on steam?
Anwyways I still need to start on details but the system is pretty much done. I need to test the gameplay because if there are any mistakes, I will have a big problem :p

Hi Helix,

I liked the beta test yesterday. It showed us a different type of map gameplay for zombie surf which was interesting. Some players we're more or less bad surfers and complained but the good surfers enjoyed it.

I think some people found it frustrating that as soon as they fail and go to jail, they have to wait between 10-25 seconds to be let out, start surfing for 5 seconds and then redo the jail process (which I thought could have been less).

The map idea is nice but i dont think for a zombie surf map this is a good gametype because there are like people who are not good at surfign and when he is a zombie and humans are way better at surfing than the zombie the zombie wil never win from humans

Thats the point, its likke a skill map, my suggestion to prevent shitty zombies, is after a certain amount of time a path appears so you are not requiered to surf.
