Click on the video twice; the video's on youtube are much better! (And not cut off...)

I HIT ENTER BY ACCIDENT, FUCK. CHANGE THE NAME TO "YOUTUBE VIDEO; DEMO PROCESS" Please. :)

TGA's, Demo, Tip, and more. :)

DOWNLOADS - http://www.virtualdub.com/download.html (VirtualDub - Needed for TGA's)

As we all know, the demo process always produces the best quality for youtube.

In this tutorial, I'll go over the basics and a little suggestion to make everything easier.

TIP

I have a separate "shortcut" with different launch abilities - It's called my "counter strike movie maker"

Basically, it has the correct size set as the launch options; so it'll launch in window mode, in the correct resolution. Much easier.

In your "Target" add onto (the end) -windowed -w 1280 -h 720 -dxlevel 95

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd176/WhiteNinjaX/kkkloljpg.jpg

1.

If you already have a Counter Strike: Source shortcut on your desktop, simply right click it and hit "make shortcut"

2.

Right click it, go to "options"

3.

In "Target" add to the end "-windowed -w 1280 -h 720 -dxlevel 95" Apply, close.

Step 1.

Record your demo. If you don't know how to, enable the "console" through options.
(Under ESC; ~)
Type "Record "Demoname" Remove all the quotations.

Step 2.

End the video recording, open the console once again (~) and type "stop" - no quotations.
The file will be saved to -
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\username\counter-strike source\cstrike

This is the solid demo file, if you give this to someone else they too may add it to their Cstrike directory and watch it.

Step 3.

This is where we'll begin to retrieve the "TGA" files.

Type "Host_framerate 30" in console. (~)

Step 4.

Type Startmovie "Hi" - "Hi" will be our TGA's name in our
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\username\counter-strike source\cstrike

Directory.

Step 5.

Type Playdemo "original demo name" - This will load up the demo. Don't worry, it's meant to be absolutely laggy. Bare with it, the ending quality will be extravagant.

Step 6.

Okay, now you have your TGA files and one .Wav file. If you haven't already, download "Virtualdub" - Download http://www.virtualdub.com/download.html

Navigate to the overall VirtualDub file, and double click the "VirtualDub.exe" file. Hit run.

Step 6.

Navigate to - C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\username\counter-strike source\cstrike

And click on (Name000) and drag it into VirtualDub. If it doesn't import all of the files, click on the 1st TGA (Name000) and navigate to the very end and, while holding SHIFT click on the very last TGA file. Navigate back to Name000 and drag that into VirtualDub. Give it a second to load.

Step 6.

Go to "Audio" tab and hit "Wav Audio..." Navigate back to
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\username\counter-strike source\cstrike

And double click the .Wav file.
(The .Wav file will share the same name as the TGA files; such as Hi.Wav)

Step 7.

Hit "File" and "Save as AVI" - DO NOT COMPRESS THIS AT ALL.
It will be a large file, but you can compress it later if needed.

Step 8.

Wait for the AVI to finish saving, import it into your favorite video editing software.

Step 9. (FOR WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER)

Edit whatever you need. Maybe you need to cut a little video off, maybe add a little music.

Now click "Publish", "This computer", Change the filename to whatever, and the directory to whatever. (Preferably to desktop)

Click "More settings" - ONLY USE THE "HD" OPTIONS. I generally use "Windows Media HD XBox 360" - As it's the best quality for youtube.

Step 9. (FOR SONY VEGAS)

Okay, this one's a little trickier than WMM.

Open up Sony Vegas, and hit "File", "Properties", and where it says "Template" - Hit the folder icon to the right of it. After that, chose the exact same file. (This will make the resolution perfect)

Change "Full-Resolution Rendering Quality" to "Best".

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd176/WhiteNinjaX/sontvegasjpg.jpg
Drag the .AVI into the bottom core, it'll do it's peaking and shit.

After editing it and whatnot, you want to save it. Click "File", then "Render As"

For save as type, change it to "Sony AVC" - Template "AVCHD 1440x 1080-60i

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd176/WhiteNinjaX/nameherejpg.jpg

Save it.

Enjoy!

(I'll upload a video later with the exact same procedure's depicted here. I might create another tutorial later about GUI's and shit.)

Wow, I didn't know that the quality of a Windows Movie Maker and Sony Vegas would be drastic. I thought it would be negligible.

WMM is obviously shitty, as it's free.

Hmm You didnt show how to use VirtualDub. So I am having a hard time syncing the audio with the video because the video is moving frame by frame.

EDIT: My video outcome is REALLY laggy and it isnt full speed. What are the settings? Not to mention the video was 6GB

It does that for me too when I preview it in Windows Player. When I import it into an editor (Sony Vegas) it'll be a smooth quality.

The reason it's so big is because you have to import it into Windows Movie Maker or Sony Vegas and "publish" it. The size will go down, and you should keep basically the same resolution while getting a cool "HD" option on your video.

I'll make a tutorial on how to use VirtualDub as well, as I've learned a few new configurations for it.

It's also recommended you use a large number from 90-250 and simply use that in VirtualDub. I'll make a pretty in-depth tutorial laterz.

Sounds good. I'm stuck at that part. I'm just trying to make a youtube video for a Jihad bomb I did. I tried to record it with fraps and the quality was SHIT.
