This just came in that a case that started with reverse discrimination was overturned by SCOTUS. The bigger story for most here is that the complaints were originally rejected by Sotomayor.

Discuss?

Yeah, I had been following this case for a while, prior to Sotomayor's nomination even, and thought it was complete garbage.

Even if Sotomayor makes it in to the scotus, the outcome would have pretty much remained the same. It's still heartening to see the SCOTUS making the right decisions, while the rest of the government fucks us.

SCOTUS made the right call, however, Sotomayor was not necessarily "wrong" per se due to the nature of the case and the caselaw in existence up to the present. The city was inappropriate in its actions, and their desire to avoid a lawsuit was not sufficient to warrant its actions, granted, and in the end the right decision was made.

I'm going to take the time to read this SCOTUS decision, to make a better explanation if anyone would be interested in that sort of thing.
