Oh geezus lawd. http://www.destructoid.com/rumortoid-valve-ea-to-reveal-left-4-dead-2-at-e3-next-week-133720.phtml

Seems interesting, but it looks like a DLC to me. Seriously, this doesn't sound like something valve will do, but then again game companies can do anything. So if this were to be released at a price of 40-50 bucks, who will get this? I'm staying away, I preordered L4D and paid 45 (5 dollar off if preorder), but basically 50 because of tax. It was fun I admit, but after 2 weeks, bleh, nothing new. Where's the content? The game was pulled of nicely but I felt that content was missing, around 65 percent missing. Not worth the 50, so if Valve decides to charge for this so called "Left 4 Dead 2", what will you call this? (more directed to people who paid full price for l4d).

Remember when survivor mode DLC was announced, they actually thought of charging for it. With enough custom complaints, they released it free...will this be a product they charge full price for? Or will it be a free DLC, as what Valve is notorious for doing.

i doubt they thought of charging for a DLC. did they ever do it? do you have a source?
the informations just werent so detailed so people discussed that they may have to pay for it.
seriously valve wont make a l4d2 now. im hoping its a DLC, but it also could be just a rumour. if it is a dlc we wont have to pay for it, as always.

Have you read the update notice the moment they announced survivor pack? They had to release another one a few days after saying that they did not rule out the fact that it could be 0.00 yet. Then a few days later they said it was free.

Left 4 dead is a lost cause, it was alirght but got boring really fast, if they made it so you could add custom maps, and make it moddable, that would make the game 100 billion timex better, they would have a barricade mode set up by now!

So why does the game suck in your opinion if you've played versus?

It's fun, but due to lack of content, it can get very very repetitive.

got repetitive, wasnt worth the 50 bucks and the dlc wasnt very good, decent game but dies on the person after awhile

Considering L4D has become a constant repetition, I don't play it at all anymore.

Rush through the map fast as you can, camp at the same spots, spend half your time practicing your 'wall jumping' skills instead of getting survivors, fin.

sdk beta is out and match maker 2.0 will be out soon, so people will be able to download cutom maps from servers.
at the moment you can actually play custom maps, but you and the guys who play with you need to have to download the maps on their own.
here are some fun maps i already played and recommend playing with friends:

zelda dungeon map:
SJXg8i_HGnA

booby trap map:
OHOyqsdW-fE

space harrier:
Yzg4Tdgg2p4

people who enjoy climbing in css will enjoy this map; hunter city:
lDaY4KqS_uU

this map is great to train your hunter skills; hunter training map:
L8UJ3Cyzb5M&feature=response_watch

there are also mini mods like the hunter games:
2q7CKpAoX4Y

the dead before dawn map will be released at the first of july...
VZd67nbGl04

...and other custom campaigns can be found on fpsbanana already or are in the makings like "i hate mountains": http://www.ihatemountains.com/

there is also a little script that allows you do barricade yourself:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=773515
not really playable in a versus game mode yet, but it shows what could be possible in the future.

im not bored with l4d yet and i think we will see l4d's real potentional once the SDK and MM 2.0 is out.
why isnt css zombie mod getting old? because there are thousands of maps with often unique gameplay and fun aspects due to ideas of the different mappers.

what im hoping for is a DLC in the future with an infection mode, something like in css with more than 8 players so rage quits arent as worse as they are now.
also if valve adds just one new boss infected it would renew the whole gameplay.

imo L4D was made to modify it and i cant wait to see the things the community will offer in the future.

How do you people not enjoy the thrill of landing a massive attack when your infected, usually killing 1 person and taking out a large chunk of life out of everyone else?

I find it very satisfying.

Don't play hunter games though, that one is horrid. Only one I love is pounce damage (25 damage getting you points and such), but 3/4th of the players always vote for tag, and you end up playing tag over 6 times before playing something else.

June 1, 2009 - Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2), the sequel to the best-selling and critically-acclaimed co-operative multiplayer thriller.

Coming exclusively to Xbox 360 and PC, L4D2 promises to set a new benchmark for co-operative action games and become one of 2009's marquee titles.

"A large part of how Left 4 Dead became 2008's top-selling new IP on Xbox 360 and the PC was the custom-tailored gameplay made possible by the AI Director," said Gabe Newell, president and co-founder of Valve. "With the knowledge gained from creating the original, new technology, and a passionate team, L4D2 will set a new benchmark for cooperative action games."

Set for release on November 17, the title adds melee combat to enable deeper co-operative gameplay, with items such as a chainsaw, frying pan, axe, baseball bat, and more.

Introducing the AI Director 2.0, L4D's dynamic gameplay is taken to the next level by giving the Director the ability to procedurally change weather effects, world objects, and pathways in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match the players' performance. The result is a unique game session custom fitted to provide a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience each time the game is played.

Featuring new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items, Left 4 Dead 2 offers a much larger game than the original with more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, and maps for Survival mode available at launch.

Supported by a $10+ million marketing campaign, Left 4 Dead has sold over 2.5 million retail copies since it was released in November of 2008. Left 4 Dead 2 is targeted for release on Xbox 360 and the PC on November 17, 2009, and will be launched worldwide with a multi-million dollar marketing campaign across TV, Outdoor, and Online.

"Left 4 Dead was backed by our most aggressive advertising campaign to date, and resulted in a top 5 showing on two platforms during holiday 2008," said Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing at Valve. "Left 4 Dead 2 is a larger game and will be supported with even more consumer and retail advertising programs than the original."

Left 4 Dead 2 will be featured as the cover story on PC Gamer and Official Xbox Magazines this month.

Probably another $50 again!

So it has come to this. A new L4D. It looks like they're releasing a L4D 1.5 rather than an actual sequel. We'll see what they come up with.

What I want from Left4Dead is to be genuinely scared. I don't want to feel like every level is just a slog through the horde with a couple of specials every now and then. I want to really panic when a hunter jumps on a teammate, I want to shit bricks when I hear the howl of a witch and I want to suffer a stroke whenever a tank comes charging at me. Personally I think some of this could be achieved through a graphical change. Left4Dead 2 has taken a step in the more cartoony direction and in my opinion that is just going to reduce the panic factor and make it seem like any typical arcade shoot-em-up.

I've been checking out the skins for the infected that are available and the tank one here (http://www.l4dmods.com/index.php?option=com_joomloads&view=package&Itemid=133&packageId=129) is the best one I've seen. If Left4Dead had that kind of atmosphere and graphical style then it would be fanatastic.

lol I remember playing the trail version for L4D and the Tank always scared the living shit out of me and my buds. We would run all the way back to the vent to kill it because we didnt want to take a chance. But even then, L4D2 is just gonna be the same game with different stuff so I cant see anyone really getting pumped about it or even planning on spending money on something that should have been a content update for free.
