View Full Version : Should SG add a WCS server?

Yes i realize there is another one down there, but that was a while ago and this one will have a poll to make it easier to see whos wants what.

First off, WCS stands for Warcraft Source and its a mod for counterstrike in which you level up by killing people and you can pick new skills or upgrade your current ones, you get to pick out of a few races at the beginning and can change anytime you want, there can also be more races added off of sites like this http://warcraft-source.com/board/index.php .

Pros of adding the server:
- Would probably be full most of the time
- Something different
- not many great WCS servers out now

Cons of adding the server:
- Might be a bust and no one will like it (not likely)
- Might be hard to maintain

So, what do you think, should SG create a WCS server?

Yes omg >.< I love WCS servers, it adds originality and customization to the game... And almost all of the other servers are pretty bad, with mic spammers, abusive admins, lag, etc. Its nice to log back onto a game, and not only see that Hey, i went up a rank, but you also gained a level that will stay there forever.

I want one too, it's somewhere for people to spend their time at when they have nothing to do and some people just want to be better then others which would make them play more so i say add a warcraft server

i support adding it since the only other wcs i ever get on is either not populated or is populated by about 3 or 4 ppl who are total dicks

Good thing about WCS servers is that once people start playing there, they will play there for a long time, cause everyone gets addicted to leveling up and just pwning the shit out of everyone :)

Well I have a 20 slot server that I have already installed wcs on but not activated it's got about 200 races. If Steamgamers want to use that i'd be more then happy to donate it to the cause.
(Note it's a UK server)

Yes please. It is just so different, you will have a reason to play, like something virtual to maintain in addition to playing CS:S. It is a fun addition, making normal CS:S just more fun. I dont even know how to put my thoughts in words anymre rofl.

Ok well my server is setup. Not giving it the SG name yet as I don't know if haggard wants it yet but here it is. I'll give 100 or so levels to each person there lols.

The only thing I really hate about WCS is that if your new to it, you get the shit kicked out of you by the people that play frequently. Which kinda ruins it if you dont play it right off the bat.

Not really. I played on a WCS server where me and my teammate were level 1, we played against people with 100-200 levels. Wasn't that bad, just need to know how to aim for the head..

I got a thing setup with my wcs where when someone new joins they get (x) amount of levels.
So when newbies join they can't say "OMG U IZ 2 POWAFUL GIEF MEH LEVELZ"

As far as I know we dont have any more resourced left to open another server. But I im not 100%.

Also if it does go up you will need to find all the mods and scripts and maps for it to work.

Seriously, the reason why so many servers flop out on this mod is that they put too many gay ass classes in that are completely overpowered once you're in the 300's of levels. There's those god races that let you teleport, invisible, extra dmg, life steal, and so on that are just amazingly unfair against everyone else and become the biggest pain in the ass to deal with.


You literally spend most of the time updating the server on figuring out fair races, finding good races and interesting ones, and editing races to tweak their abilities.

I doubt the higher ups have that much time on their hands.
