I'm not really sure what I do with it, its my first map and it only been tested by me so do I just upload it on fpsb (couldn't get the clan thing to work) or do I need to do other stuff like check lag/size, spawning, fps, and bugs on like a private server before I post it? Also I have make it ze mod or is that done by the servers? :P

Got a few ss, but does this look laggy?

Looks alright tbh i know nothing about making maps lol, but it is the Mod on the server what makes it ZM so you wouldn't have to.

Uh its laggy because theres so many trees in there. You can't have the map loading that many trees without getting delay, because theres so much and no way to block them. I suggest making trees out of textures, just make them cylinders.

firstly, grayfox shrink down your damn sig :P

mapwise, new maps are always appreciated, dont expect it to be perfect as soon as its made. I would say (from those screenshots) that it will probably have lag issues down to so many trees. I'd advise having a look through the tutorials on fpsbanana for ways to optimise the map, and maybe consider using some nodraw at different points

Isit called ze_forest by any chance?

Upload it so people can take a look and try it. Then you can get some good feedback.

The trees are a big problem, they are props and if you have alot of them, like everyone else is saying, it lags a bit. But furthermore, it adds to your filesize considerably. The more edges you see the more complex the engine has to process that information and send it to the player. Which in-turn causes lag.

I assume the escape part is you make it from the house to the boats through the maze of trees? My suggestion is making a texture of trees that has an alpha channel on it. The alpha channel should make parts of the texture "disappear" and look alright if you create the texture right. By doing this you'd create your maze out of big blocks called "brushes". This would signifcantly improve fps and lag because all the game engine has to do is process the picture and not 100's of individual props.

Hope that helped.

if you can. msg butterknife about how he got good fps on his lostworld_redux, even with having lots of trees

From what I heard him say, butterknife used fog to get decent fps. (I'm sure he used other things, but that was a main one)

I think it is alright but I seriously know nothing about making maps so I cant tell you how to get the clan thing to work and stuff.

I think you should remove a few trees. It will probably make it a little bit easier for humans to escape and shoot the zombies infront/behind them.
