    Apprentice sub-forum

I would like to propose we give the apprentice's their own sub-forum (unless there already is one, in which case I just wasted my time writing this thread). With it they could ask for help regarding a certain situation, and receive advice/criticism on how to better themselves.

As of now, we tend to let them get on with it alone; however with their own sub-forum they would be more likely to understand the boundaries placed upon them. I am sure none of us want this to develop to the extent where we 'nanny' the apprentices as such, but of course with each query it can give us (the CAs) a clearer outline of an apprentice's personality and attitude.

For example, someone who is asking questions and then applying them in-game will be taken notice of, rather than someone who's in-game behaviour is somewhat questionable and who never asks for advice despite their clear lack of skill in managing the server. Of course, there are going to be those who don't need to ask for advice and can get on well by themselves, which will be just as good.

If this were to be implemented then I'm not sure whether to allow access to SG-A+ or just SG-A and CA+. Having every admin trying to answer a single question can be quite hectic. The usual result is conflicting viewpoints which eventually lead to derogatory remarks being thrown around. With just the CAs+ answering their questions it would be a lot more helpful, but this decision will have to be made by a higher up or Haggard himself.

All in all I think having a little sub-forum for them would be pretty helpful, especially when giving SG-As specific announcements. Stickies could be made outlining the fact that they (as Highsky put it) lack the 'benefit of the doubt' when it comes to stepping out of line, and this could help keep them on their toes which could lead to them actually making an effort to graduate, which in turn makes our lives a hell of a lot easier too.

    Comments? Insults? Death threats?

Just CA's and SG-A's would be easier. In the SA section, people tend to repeat others over and over again, even when the answer or conclusion is on the first page. There's less CA's so we shouldn't have trouble noticing when an answer is already posted, and we should be competent enough to answer all questions.

AO's and higher will still be able to see the thread so even if we can't answer a question entirely, they can still post. Cutting out the SA's seems easier in the long run, just to have 60+ less people in the mix.

    ----------------------------

Though this proposal reminds me of one I had thought about making:

A section for current SA+ to see, and all threads made private except to the one who made it and the CA's+, much like how many community's ban appeals are done, where only the one appealing and the higher ups responsible can see the thread, all those not involved see blank. The section could be used to report SG-A's behavior, and would be much easier than PMing a single CA or PMing in general.

I know it's been brought up before that SA's want to report on SG-A doings, and a section such as that would be easy enough to make, I would assume, and much easier to do the CA duty of checking up on SG-A's and deciding who is right for promotions.

Not really. It's like a forum section you can click, but it's completely blank of threads, you can create a new thread and then that's the only one you can see, and higher ups can see all of the threads in the section if they have access to it. This way, if SG-A's become SA's, they don't see who had an issue with them and no drama is created, hopefully.

It's really easy to make, and less of a hassle than that kind of form thing. That way the one who is reporting a SG-A could reply back to the thread if we ask them anything.

I see. Would this be possible with vBulletin?

I really like this idea. Overall, I feel giving the SG-As there own place to discuss amongst themselves as well as ask questions to the CAs+ would work very well and would also go a long way towards keeping people happy and satisfied with the level of service they receive i.e. the SG-As receiving definitive clear-cut answers in a timely manner and to where all other SG-As can see them for future clarification.
