CA Activity
CAs should be active. They should be actively discussing and voting on EVERY proposal. If a CA has no opinion on a proposal, he should try to understand and improve his knowledge of it so he can make an informed vote. Each CA should be able to say Yes or No to each proposal.
CA should not be considered a 'stable' usergroup. If an AO decides to go inactive, he steps down. This should be the same case with CA. The Legends group is there for admins who have contributed to the community and been recognised for this with the position. The CA group is for admins who want an active role in the community, to show they can help out and provide mature, well argued and structured discussion.
If a CA knows he is going to be away for several weeks or longer, he should discuss with a BD about stepping down to free up his spot to someone else. If a CA goes inactive without discussing this, he should be removed from his position.
“Active” requires a definition in order for it to be used to control CA membership. Should this proposal be passed, I recommend a discussion for how this should be defined. I view “Active” for CAs as posting in the CA section, creation and discussion of proposals. If a CA is not able/willing to do these two things, he shouldn’t be a CA.
Out of the three Proposals I have just posted, this one is the most ambiguous as to what is actually being voted upon. The summary of this proposal and what is being voted on is:
1) A better definition of the role and position of the CA usergroup, in order to increase understanding within the community as a usergroup for admins that want to be active in proposing and voting on changes for the benefit of the community, and not simply a promotion for good behaviour.
2) Making the CA usergroup more fluid in membership, with CAs who are viewed as inactive, or who opt to go inactive, being removed, and new CAs being promoted within a short period of time.
