    CA membership guidelines proposal

    CA Membership

    Recently we have added the new Legends usergroup, to try to separate the older/less active members from the CAs. Originally the CAs were mainly made up of the older members, but as time has progressed, they have been moved out to Legends. Both groups still perform the same roles, but the separation means that we can have one group for newer/more active SAs whom we feel deserve more say in how our community is run, with the other being available for the older/retired AO/BD admins who still pay admin and occasionally post.

    We need a list now of what we consider requirements in order to justify an SA being made up into a CA. There is little point in moving admins to CA if they aren't going to be posting, whether it be discussion, ideas or proposals (no offence is intended by this for present and past CAs, but its just how it should be with the position). The Legends group is the place to move long-serving SAs who deserve recognition, not the CA group.

    I understand that the BDs will decide who does get moved into new groups, but I think there should still be some guidelines they should follow (I do not know if such a thing already exists).

    Time period as Admin

    This is used for the HG user group. For an admin to qualify to be considered for CA, he should have spent a large amount of time as one. This will allow him to have developed a good grasp of the rules, of become a well-known community member, have gathered a good understanding of the community, and have allowed the AOs/BDs to get to know him. This time period should roughly be 3 months. This will only be a guideline, not a definitive requirement (as there are always exceptions).

    Strikes

    Admins who have received strikes should not be considered for CA unless these strikes occurred a significant period of time before his consideration for CA.

    Proposing new CAs

    CA selection should still be BDs final decision, but the admins considered for a CA role should be discussed with the AOs. Each AO would propose an admin to be considered, and would provide reasons why he is being proposed. This would mean a decent amount of admins would be discussed, as well as including names that BDs might not know that well (due to time difference, etc). Concern has been raised that this will lead to “ass-licking” by SAs who want to become CAs. Proposing SAs would ideally be kept secret, but I believe that even were this to become general knowledge, our AOs would have enough common sense to be able to tell apart good candidates and “ass-lickers”.

    The advisors group includes all former AO's and longtime community admins who are highly respected and advise the staff on important issues.

    * Advise the higher staff in important decision
    * Keep servers clean from rule breakers
    * Issue warnings/kicks/bans
    * Manage the maps played
    * Record demos proof for perm bans
    * Request perm bans via the forum
    * Post in game server problems on forum
    * Help in any way to make the servers fun

    Shown above, clearly states that Community Advisor are long time members of the Community. Being Admin for three months, isn't long time member. Myself, being here for over year don't find myself longtime member.

    Although I agree with the whole propose the New Community Advisor, I believe CA and AO should be able to propose new Community Advisors. We have Six AO, and about three of them are always in the same channel, by themselves. Plus, most of the current CA have been admins longer then some of the AO, thus it should only be fair that the Community Advisor/Legend User group get to propose new CA.

    Back to the whole three month idea; You honestly can't get to know someone within three months, nor can whole Community know them, yet alone respect them. The waiting period should be Six months before even being considered for Community Advisor.

    Admin strike should increase the waiting period by three months, in my honest opinion.

    I agree although I don't see how AO's being in one channel rather than pointlessly scattering ourselves especially when we are in a public channel matters........and depending on what the strike is for three months could be too much perhaps, although we do seem to be reluctant to give out admin strikes for smaller things these days.

    Also Jaffa this does go back to my idea that admins are being accepted when we know almost nothing about them and I agree.

    How often do you/tcp/Paul go into Public channel with SA? Whenever I see you on, your always in channel with selected people.

    Plus, Daze is always on Surf+Afk channel.

    Vem Default channel is the AO.

    And Highsky/Beth never come on Ventrilo anymore.

    HIghsky is on vent every day, and Beth is on vacation... Does it matter in what channel they are, you can always join them.. It would be different if they were always in the AO channel..

    Don't let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game

    Highsky is on vent alot, I always talk to tcp and paul cause your and cranks are always lurking in the CA channel and people join our channels, so the selected people are something which may not be familiar to you there called "friends" so whats wrong with joining a channel with them. random people join ours enough so the channel is never out of reach if anyone tcp or paul, as for beth in New York, so what the hell are you on about.
