    Admin Training

I find this completely necessary with all of the admin complaints going on about new admins.
We mostly just let them go out on their own as soon as they get approved.
I have some ideas for like admin school, in which we can teach them things they need to know.

First I think we should have something they have to sign off on that they have read and agree to all the rules on it. Which I know some may not read but in the cases of the recent admin complaints they would be punished since they should have read and know the rules. This would also be a new question in the upgrade request form. Asking if they would like to take the Admin training course. [Or if someone can think of a better name.] So this wouldn't be forced upon every new admin, but it's suggested.

    Admin Training

These are like the little subsections that would go on during it.
Any advice of what else to add or change is much appreciated.
This would be all at one time, like for a half hour or so on vent/in game.
I would like the CA's to be "Teachers" along with myself and any other AO's.

    Class 1: Rules.

Where we roughly go over the rules that would be in the sticky thread they would sign off on. Pretty much just a brief summary of things they should know.

    Class 2: Powers.

Where we could go over each power and show them good situations to use them in and when they are appropriate. Give them examples and show them how to go about using them properly.

    Class 3: Warnings.

Go over situations and how to go about warning people through admin chat or microphone. Pretty much give them a guideline of what to do while in different situations. Not always having to do with powers.

    Class 4: Ban Protocol.

This is when we would give them outlines of how long they should ban for each incident. And to know when to ban. Pretty much state that warn/slay/kick/ban is important.

    Class 5: Situations.

This would be where we make up scenarios and give them a chance to react to it. This would be after all the above, so they know how to handle situations. Pretty much and ending to show they actually got something from this.

Then maybe go into escape or Prison Break with them and just be there to guide them along.
Cause I must confess, those servers are pretty hard to admin on.
Especially being thrown in there on your first day and having no idea what to do.

Again, this is just an outline of thought I had.
More could be added but I'm looking for some input.
Thanks to Daze and Svendy for thinking about this a while back.
Nothing came of it, but I hope to see something come of it now.
Any feedback at all would be nice, just be honest.

    EDIT!:
Alright, now that I have seen many of your opinions I want to edit what I originally had here to fix the odds and ends I have left out. Thank you all for your support of the idea and all your opinions. It's really appreciated.
Any new parts will be red.

I'm already doing that to new admins who enter the server I'm occupying. If they have a question I answer, I give them tips, and I try to make them the most merciful admin they could be :P I wouldn't mind doing this on a regular basis though, this is an excellent idea. Less noob admins = less admin complaints = less work = more free time = more lulz.

I definatly agree we need a new system for new admins. I think one major problem right now with new admins is that players hwo knew them before they had admin can sometimes give them a hard time, either thinking they can get away with stuff because they are friends, or simply not respecting the new admins authority. I think we need some way to link successful applications with amking our online community (which does not visit these forums) aware of who the admins are, and when they get accepted.

I'll post up some more, along with discussion for Beth's post later when i've had time to think on it.

Below are some previos CA/AO threads related to this, some may have ideas we could assilmilate

Nice idea. This should be put in to action as soon as possible if approved.

    I'm liking this idea.

One question, Do you have to take the classes? Such as, is it rule to take the classes before getting admin?

Or do new admins get to pick if they take the classes?

I think it should be something the new admins should be willing to go through just to make sure they know what they are doing. Even if you have been an admin before on a different server, it's more to show how we work than just using admin.

    Absolutely!

    Especially the powers/commands.
I have seee a lot of the new admins with no use of mani background struggle with general chat commands and a few of the others.

Also if the banning protocol is kicked in to everyone's head when they are starting out, means they wont find themselves defending silly bans in appeal sections.

Looking at this again i think this would put admins off. There for we should make a tutorial map. We place the new admins in this map and we set up scenarios in which they have to use there powers to sort the situation out. This would show them how to use mani as well as help them in making the right choice.

EG. "You have seen a player freekill" "What action do you take on this person". We let the admin take there choice if its a wrong we we step in and guide them to do the right thing.

But overall i like the idea of having a tutorial, but the sound of it would put even me off.
