Yu Yu Hakusho is my favorite anime, it's great. Gundam Wing is another close favorite. Trigun is also very, very good. And Dragon Ball (original and Z, not GT) is awesome too. Samurai Champloo - also great.

And for manga - definitely check out Hellsing.

Yeah, Samurai Champloo is very good.

But as for anime movies, you need to check out Kiki's Delivery Service. It's written, produced, and directed by Miyazaki, who has made Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, and Spirited Away. The American version has pretty good voice acting too, so it's okay to watch that rather than a subbed Japanese version.

If you people want a really good super-natural/fucked up action watch Elfien Lied (Elfen Lido) or Evan Gellion. Elfen Lied is NOT for the faint of heart or queasy.

    #1) Furi Kuri (FLCL)
    #2) Azumanga Daioh
    #3) Excel Saga

    Listed as importance
All "comedy"per se, but Excel and FLCL have action moments, too.

FLCL has 6 epsiodes, which I've watched each literally hundreds of time, BUT FOR YOU FIRST TIME WATCHING, I URGE YOU THIS: WATCH THEM IN ORDER!!! IF YOU DON'T YOU PROLLY WONT PICK UP ON THE STORYLINE! IN FACT, WATCH IT IN ORDER 2 OR 3 TIMES!!! Then after that, you'll start questioning the story, and start to pick up on cool refrences here and there. And, even watching it now, I still see things that I haven't noticed before.

Azumanga dosn't really have a story, but it is a very halirious show.
English dubbing SUCKS tho, so watch it with eng subs, or if u can speak Japanese, go ahead.

And Excel, how would I describe it... Just watch it
Dubbing is alright, just hard to understand at some time, Excel speaks VERY fast.

You can also check his earlier works like Nausica (I think that's how it's spelled). I usually stick to manga myself though. Oh, and an obligatory "I would suggest Bible Black" post.

Bible Black isn't considered an anime, it's a Hentai movie.

    Currently watching:
Darker than Black (Semi-Action Anime) (Also hardly any comedy till EP7)
    Nodame Cantabile (Music/comedy)

    Recommend:
School Rumble (Most Azumanga lovers, love this series, this however the randomness makes sense for once)
    Honey and Clover (Drama/Comedy)

    Other's Recommendation:
Romeo X Juliet (Iono, people just said it was good, I have yet to check it out; also the story does not follow the orginal, it has been altered)
Lucky Star (This anime is for major Otakus, fortunately I am not one)
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (I honestly don't know what's so great about this)
Claymore (I think it's action, I have yet to check it out.)
Seirei no Moribito (No clue whats it about, but a lot of talk about it)
Ouran Host Club (If you are a girl, not recommended for guys)
    Blood+ (A lot of talk)
Trinity Blood (A lot of talk)

There are others I haven't listed, also all the ones listed above are pretty new. Should be, except for a few.
