It was difficult for me to get into the first episode, simply because I had no idea what direction they were moving in, but it seems quite interesting.

There is a large cast of both good and familiar voices, many from ongoing series such as Zoro from One Piece, Rukia from Bleach, others from Naruto, Gintama, straightmen from series all around, etc..

As you could read from the AnimeDB, a civil war is in progress throughout Japan and great historical figures are interpreted. This series is not only varied through art style but character attributes and war scenes as well. A specific comparison that comes to mind would be Dynasty Warriors the videogame. The opening sequence says enough, but the battles are both hack n slash followed by one on one battles. The art style can be the most recent up to date and can then appear old school with less graphic detail; it actually seems to work thoug, so don't let that deter your interest. The style of combat is also familiar with a mixture of powerups and regular sword play, enhanced superhuman speed and strength.

I think the series places a great deal of emphasis on humor/comedy, but it can get a little more seirous at times. It isn't the best in my opinion, but it isn't the worst either. Check it out if you can, not too bad for fillers between epics.

It actually is based off the video game "Sengoku Basara", the american title was "Devil Kings".
